In order to keep a woolen beanie soft and durable we need to handle it gently at all times.
If a garment is densely knitted or woven and you trust your washing machine to be really gentle, here is how you can wash your beanie, scarf, mittens, blanket or a cape (pompoms and fur trims must be taken off before washing).
- Wash only similar colors together
- Use gentle, non bleaching washing powder or liquid
- Put garments in a laundry bag to protect the wool
- choose gentle care or wool cycle on your machine
- Airdry flat on a rack or towel for better results
If you wish to wash it with hands (some beanies and scarves are suitable only for dry cleaning or hand wash), here are the tips :
1. use strictly cold or luke warm water
2. put a garment flat and make it wet
3. do not twist, just pat it gently
4. foam shampoo or soap and apply it on the garment
5. pat again and rinse with cold water
6. press water out while the garment is laying flat
7) airdry flat on a towel or drying rack
